June 11, 2025 – Homicide detectives have charged Tony Wray, 29, with criminal homicide for Tuesday night’s fatal shooting of Charqwan Howse, 26, outside Wray’s Walker Terrace apartment.
Officers responded just before midnight and found Howse critically wounded on the sidewalk and rendered aid until NFD arrived. Howse died at the scene. Wray was also present armed with a handgun. Officers detained him and recovered the weapon.
Homicide detectives responded and transported Wray and several witnesses to police headquarters to be questioned. Wray’s pregnant girlfriend reported that they had argued prior to the shooting and that he had physically assaulted her. She then called a relative who came to the apartment with Howse to intervene.
The relative, Howse, and a third woman all approached Wray on the front porch of the apartment building where an argument over the alleged assault ensued. Wray is accused of shooting Howse without further provocation.
In addition to criminal homicide, Wray is charged with two counts of aggravated assault involving his girlfriend and an additional count of aggravated assault against a second woman/witness.
