February 26, 2025 – A 31-year-old convicted felon out of Williamson County is already free on $12,500 bond after he was arrested early this morning on multiple charges related to him impersonating an officer several times in recent weeks.

Leart Bytyqi was identified as the man driving a Nissan Pathfinder who on February 20 attempted to pull over a driver on White Bridge Pike by flashing a badge out of the driver’s side window. The Pathfinder had lightbars in the front and rear windows, appearing to the driver and his passenger that it was possibly an undercover police vehicle; however, they did not stop.

Bytyqi, who is familiar to local law enforcement from similar encounters, was charged last year for carrying a weapon on school property after he showed up to John Overton High School wearing a vest with the words “Officer Protective Services” and a duty belt equipped with a taser, pepper spray and handcuffs. He was forced to turn all of those items into the MNPD property room. This charge was retired in General Sessions Court until August 2025.

Yesterday Bytyqi was stopped by patrol officers for a traffic infraction while wearing a ballistic vest, duty belt and carrying a realistic BB gun. He told officers he was a security guard.

Bytyqi was taken into custody at his South Nashville home early this morning and charged with impersonation of a licensed professional, criminal impersonation of a law enforcement officer and two counts of attempted false imprisonment.
