February 16, 2024 – A 16-year-old KIPP Collegiate High School 10th grader is charged in Juvenile Court with carrying a gun on school property and false reporting after he threatened a school administrator.

Due to KIPP’s no-phone policy, the administrator today asked for the student’s phone. The teen then made a threat against the administrator which was overheard by several witnesses. A loaded nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol was located in the student’s backpack.

The gun was not reported stolen. It has not been determined how the student came into possession of the pistol.
