October 5, 2023 – Specialized Investigations Division detectives are actively working to determine the motive for Wednesday night’s gunfire into a home in the 2700 block of Batavia Street that wounded a 12-year-old boy, non-critically, as he sat on a sofa inside near a window.
The investigation shows that five shots were fired at the home by a person standing outside just before 10 p.m. The shooter then ran away. There is no indication that the 12-year-old was being specifically targeted. Home with him at the time were his 15-year-old sister and 1-year-old brother. They were not injured.
