Hero Doughnuts and Buns was conceived by chef Wil Drake who started a cult-following brioche doughnut business several years ago as a “pop-up” in Birmingham, AL.

Catching the eye of Pihakis Restaurant Group founder, Nick Pihakis, Hero Doughnuts and Buns is now part of the Pihakis Restaurant Group and has grown up to become a favorite stop for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks in their cheerful shops located in Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL and Charleston, SC. The company just announced it will open in Nashville in the Wedgewood-Houston and Sylvan Heights neighborhoods.

Brioche, yeast-style, raised doughnuts are made from scratch in a 2-day process, then topped and filled with creative combinations utilizing locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Glazed, filled and sanded with unique sugar and spice mixes, Hero’s sweet treats are offered along with a robust savory menu. The now-famous Hero Burgers, Super-crunch Chicken Sandwiches, and creative lunch and breakfast buns start with house-made, fresh brioche buns with fillings that can be customized. Diverse breakfast options and salads round out the menu with the entire menu being offered all day. They squeeze-to-order orange juice, brew Birmingham-based Domestique drip coffee, nitro cold brew, draft lattes and espresso-based specialty coffee drinks. Fun adult beverages—beer, wine, mimosas, spiked lattes and other brunchy drinks are offered as well! Friendly, enthusiastic employees welcome guests with the promise of good times and great food.

Hours in each location are 7:00am to 5:00pm daily with online ordering, delivery and catering available. Hero’s appeal to young, old, families, college students, tourists and long-time residents creates an ideal blend of customers with an opportunity to serve everyone in our casual atmosphere with affordable-yet-thoughtful food.
