October 27, 2023 – Outstanding, coordinated police work led to an overnight arrest of five male juveniles suspected of being involved in several armed robberies in the Hermitage, South, and Midtown Hills Precincts.

Violent Crimes Division detectives spotted a black Nissan Rogue that had been taken in an early morning October 22nd carjacking in a parking lot at an Arbor Crest Boulevard apartment complex. They successfully spike stripped the SUV as it exited an apartment complex at 860 Murfreesboro Pike. The Rogue turned outbound onto Murfreesboro Pike and then onto Foothill Drive.

There was no pursuit by officers on the ground as a police helicopter followed the vehicle to the dead end of Foothill Drive where six individuals fled into an apartment complex at 221 Plus Park Boulevard. Detectives requested assistance from South Precinct patrol officers who established a perimeter. Five of the six were apprehended with the assistance of the police helicopter, patrol officers, and Canine officers.

During an interview, one of the suspects admitted that he and others had tossed their firearms to the ground as they ran from police. Detectives recovered two pistols and one rifle.

Two 15-year-olds, Jesus Alvarado and Selvin Alexander-Popmac are charged with carjacking. A 14 and 17-year-old are charged with joyriding and evading arrest. Charges are pending against a third 17-year-old.

The investigation continues. Additional charges are anticipated.
