Driver Charged Months After Fatal Head-On Crash on Clarksville Pike

A 61-year-old man has been charged in connection with a November 2025 crash on Clarksville Pike that killed a Smithville man.

James Brewington Jr. surrendered to authorities Wednesday on warrants related to the fatal head-on collision that claimed the life of 41-year-old Dustin McLeod.

According to Metro Nashville Police, Brewington was driving a Nissan Titan pickup truck southbound near Bobel Lane when he swerved into oncoming traffic while passing a vehicle turning right. His truck collided head-on with a northbound Jeep Renegade.

McLeod, who was a passenger in the Jeep, was taken to Skyline Medical Center, where he later died.

Brewington was booked on charges of vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, reckless endangerment and three counts of aggravated assault. He remains in jail on a $135,000 bond.
