Maxine-Manos-Duffey

In loving memory of Maxine Manos Duffey, a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, homemaker, and friend to many, who passed away on 04/20/2024, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Maxine was known for her kind and giving spirit. One of Maxine’s greatest joys in life was spending time with her many grandchildren. Known as “Grammy” and “Mamie”, she adored them immensely and spent countless hours feeding and coddling them, enjoying their presence and supporting their many endeavors. She also kept SteinMart and local garage sales vibrant with her many visits. Her surrogate roommate for many of her later years was her beloved dog Sophie.

She was a long-time member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Nashville dating back to the Church’s prior home on 6th Ave South. She was active in the Woman’s Club of Nashville for many years, including a term as club president, and made numerous friends through her long administrative employment at Calvary United Methodist (where she won a national church newsletter award) and St. John’s United Methodist churches in Nashville. She was also very supportive of the family’s various churches and schools over the years.

Maxine was born on July 6, 1933, in Springfield, OH and was the daughter of the late Peter and Chrisoula Manos. Her husband of 54 years, Charles “Chuck” Duffey, preceded her in death in 2008.

Maxine is survived by her sister, Melpo Maroudas, Springfield, OH; daughters Susan (Bruce) Buck, Buford, GA; Sharon (Scott) Egbert, Lexington, KY; Sally Cornell (JoAnne Reich), Tarpon Springs, FL; and Diane Delatour, Nashville, TN; sons Charlie (Allison) and Kevin (Palmer) of Nashville, TN; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to recognize the outstanding and compassionate care given to Maxine over the years by her long-time primary healthcare providers, Dr. G William Bounds and Dr. Matt Gorham, as well as the generous care given by various staff members at Harmony Senior Living in Bellevue and other caregivers. The family also greatly appreciates the kindness shown to her over the years by her many local and out of state dear friends.

A public visitation service will be held on Thursday, 4/25/24 from 4 pm-8 pm at Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Ave N, Nashville, TN. Funeral service will be held on Friday, 4/26/24 at 11:00 am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4905 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN, 37220. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/nashville-tn
