August 18, 2024 – On Sunday afternoon, an attempted traffic stop led to the arrest of a wanted felon and the recovery of multiple firearms. Officers initially stopped a vehicle on suspicion of impaired driving after noticing the car was being driven with one wheel on the rim.
The driver, a 39-year-old male from Nashville, initially complied but provided a false license before fleeing the scene. The pursuit concluded on Lebanon Road near Blair Lane, where the suspect was apprehended following a minor collision.
No injuries were reported. Upon further investigation, the suspect was identified as a convicted felon wanted in Nashville for failure to appear on assault and theft charges. He is also wanted out of Shelby County for domestic assault.
Additionally, he has a history of aggravated assault on a police officer in Florida and is a convicted sex offender who has failed to properly report his location.
Two AR-pistols were found in the vehicle, along with spent ammunition casings. The firearms will undergo forensic ballistics testing to determine if they are connected to any crimes. The man told officers he had just smoked crack cocaine.
The suspect is now in custody and will be booked into the Wilson County Jail.
