The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will be closing 1st Avenue / State Route 24 in downtown Nashville for the replacement of a water main.

Beginning Wednesday, March 20, 1st Avenue between Korean Veterans Boulevard / US 41 and Molloy Street will be closed for crews from Turner Construction Company to make the replacement. The road will be closed for about three weeks.

Work will be suspended for the Easter holiday at noon March 30 and reconvene April 1.

All work is weather-dependent. Drivers are urged to slow down and allow for extra time to travel through the area. Drivers can utilize Demonbreun Street, 2nd Ave and Korean Veteran’s Boulevard as detours.

As always, drivers are reminded to slow down and move over when traveling through a work zone. The Move Over Law was passed in 2006. The penalty for violating the law in Tennessee carries the possibility of up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of up to $500.
