Fatal crash investigators are working to identify the hit and run driver who on Sunday at 2 a.m. struck two pedestrians in the 100 block of Lafayette Street, fatally injuring both.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2011 Lexus 250 sedan was traveling outbound on Lafayette Street at a high rate of speed when the pedestrians, Yulonda Parham, 31, and Kanon Oldham, 27, were struck. Both were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical where they died. According to witnesses, the male driver then pulled over and fled on foot. The female registered owner of the Lexus responded to the scene to attempt to aid in the investigation. There were no signs of alcohol or drug use inside the Lexus which was towed for further forensic analysis.
