November 14, 2024 – A Nashville man free on $70,000 bond from his arrest just last month on charges of felony gun and marijuana possession is now in even deeper trouble following his arrest Wednesday night on charges of being behind the wheel of a stolen car with a modified fully automatic pistol under his seat.

Acuma Juma, 23, was also found to be carrying a baggie filled with oxycodone pills and more than $2,200 cash. Inside the stolen Infiniti Q50 was a backpack containing more illegal substances, including additional pills, crystal meth, cocaine and crack cocaine.

Juma is now jailed in lieu of $192,000 bond on multiple theft, drug and gun felonies.

Juma’s passenger, Deng Akok, 24, was free on $23,000 bond stemming from his arrest last month on felony cocaine and gun charges. Akok is now jailed in lieu of $157,000 bond on new charges of vehicle theft, several drug counts, and trespassing.

The arrests of Juma and Akok came as Vehicle Crimes detectives were conducting surveillance on a stolen Nissan Maxima parked at a Hobson Pike apartment complex. Juma and Akok arrived in the stolen Infiniti, after which the driver of the Maxima, Samuel Andrew, 24, left that car and joined them. It was then that detectives moved in on the Infiniti and arrested all three men. Andrew is charged with two counts of vehicle theft, misdemeanor drug possession and criminal trespassing. His bond is set at $38,000.
