The female victim pulled up to her Wallace Road apartment when she was approached by a young man who ordered her out of her vehicle, a black 2018 Ford Escape, at gunpoint. He got into the Escape and drove off. Two others, who appeared to be with the suspect, got into a sedan and also left.

Detectives working the violent crimes initiative responded and within 30 minutes located the Ford Escape which appeared to be traveling in tandem with a white Lexus sedan. Officers followed the carjacked SUV to an apartment complex on Winthorne Drive where the driver and sole occupant, Henry Sandoval, 15, fled on foot but was soon taken into custody. He was in possession of a loaded firearm. Sandoval was positively identified as the carjacker.

Detectives then spotted the Lexus and began to follow the sedan which ultimately pulled into a Bel Air Drive residence where the occupants got out and fled into a wooded area. While officers searched the woods, a citizen reported that a gun had been thrown out of the window of the Lexus onto Currey Road. Detectives responded there and recovered an AR-15 rifle and a loaded pistol from the side of Currey Road.

During the continuing investigation, detectives identified a possible residence for the suspects where they indeed located two brothers, Jesus and Saul Martinez-Garcia. During an interview, Jesus, 17, and Saul, 16, both admitted to being present during the carjacking and to driving Sandoval to the robbery location.

All three teens are charged in Juvenile Court with aggravated robbery.
