Three Pedestrians Killed in Nashville in One Weekend

December 4, 2023 – Three male pedestrians were killed in separate crashes in Nashville over the weekend.

A man has died following Saturday night’s hit and run crash on Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard near 17th Avenue North. Edward Day, 70, was found in the roadway at 10: 45 p.m. by a passerby who flagged down a North Precinct sergeant driving southbound.

Responding paramedics with the Nashville Fire Department reported Day’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle. He died at the scene.

Crash investigators are working to identify the vehicle responsible. Anyone with information on this fatal crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.

Another fatal last crash happened on East Thompson Lane near Lawndale Drive Saturday night. The preliminary investigation indicates a pedestrian, identified as a 61-year-old man, was struck in the roadway by an eastbound BMW sedan.

The 55-year-old driver remained on scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The pedestrian was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. Efforts are underway to notify his family.

On Sunday, a male pedestrian died following a hit and run crash on Nolensville Pike near McClain Avenue around 10:20 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicates the man was running from west to east when a white Dodge Challenger or Charger with black racing stripes struck him at a high rate of speed.

The Dodge fled the scene heading northbound on Nolensville Pike.

The man died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to positively identify him.
