A 19-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he led detectives on a high-speed chase and tossed bags of marijuana onto neighborhood rooftops while trying to escape.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Violent Crimes Division detectives spotted a Mercedes sedan speeding in the Brick Church Pike area around 11 p.m. Wednesday and attempted a traffic stop.
Police said the driver, identified as Markeese Crowell, fled from detectives at speeds exceeding 100 mph. The vehicle was followed by MNPD Aviation until it stopped on Chesapeake Drive, where Crowell allegedly got out and ran through nearby yards.
During the pursuit, aviation officers saw Crowell throw two bags of marijuana onto the roofs of two homes on Chesapeake Circle, police said.
Detectives later arrested Crowell on Rainwood Drive and recovered the marijuana from the rooftops, along with the keys to the Mercedes, according to police.
Crowell was charged with misdemeanor and felony evading arrest, aggravated reckless driving, marijuana possession, driving on a suspended license, and evidence tampering. He remains jailed on a $43,000 bond.
