February 27, 2025 – Last night TITANS Unit detectives arrested Amir Carroll, 19, for his involvement in the April 2024 robbery-related murder of Christopher Cheeks outside of a music studio on Hayes Street. Carroll is a known associate of suspect Adrian Cameron Jr., who is still on the run, and was found to have been with Cameron at the scene during the gunfire that killed Cheeks, 32, of California, and injured Cheeks’ 29-year-old friend.
Carroll was taken into custody on East Thompson Lane last night on 11 grand jury indictments related to the homicide case, including first degree premeditated murder, especially aggravated robbery and felony weapon possession among other charges.
He remains jailed today on $250,000 bond.
Cameron Jr., now 20, has 12 outstanding grand jury indictments related to Cheeks’ murder. He was out on bond at the time for the September 2021 murder of Josh Evans.
He has been on the run since last April.
Anyone with information on Cameron Jr.’s whereabouts or the identities of other suspects involved in the fatal shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and qualify for up to a $5,000 reward in homicide cases.
