September 25, 2023 – A 9th grade student was arrested this afternoon following a threat to John Overton High School. Two calls came in reporting an active shooter, but were found to be false calls upon further investigation.
The School Safety Division’s Rapid Response Team was deployed and cleared the school where no weapons were recovered.
The student was charged in juvenile court with making a threat of mass violence, making a false report and abuse of the 911 system.
The investigation into today’s incident is ongoing.
