Predators lose to Rangers in Final Game of this Homestand
The Nashville Predators came up short of a win on Thursday night, losing 3-1 to the visiting New York Rangers. This puts the Predators at a 1-3-0 record from their opening week of games at home.
The lone goal of the night for the Preds came from rookie forward Phil Tomasino, which was his first NHL goal. Tomasino’s parents were luckily in the stands to witness the big moment for their son.
Because the season is merely a week old, I don’t think it’s fair to say the franchise is doomed to a bad year- there are 78 regular season games left before a playoff berth. However, starting the first week of the season with a losing record is not ideal. The team hits the road this weekend to face the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, and the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. Next home game will be Tuesday the 26th against the San Jose Sharks.
World Series Race Narrows
The end of the season is near for two of the four remaining teams in the MLB Playoffs. Although teams have come back before, after the last games’ victories for the Astros and the Braves, the future of this postseason doesn’t look too bright for the Red Sox or the Dodgers.
In The ALCS, the Houston Astros defeated the Boston Red Sox 9-1 in game 5 to lead the series 3-2. In The NLCS, the Atlanta Braves defeated the LA Dodgers 9-2 in game 4, taking the series lead 3-1. Both of these championship series are best-of-7, so be prepared for a very intense showing of baseball this weekend.
The ALCS game 6 will be held in Houston on Friday night at 7:08pm, and the NLCS will be held Saturday in Atlanta at 4:08pm. Things will intensify tenfold if either series is forced to a Game 7.
Can’t-Miss CFB Games This Weekend
We have Week 8 of the college football season upon us, and boy are there some intense matchups this weekend. To start off the list of games to catch are the Friday Night Lights teams this week; Middle Tennessee at UConn at 6pm, and Memphis at UCF at 7pm.
Saturday is where things start to heat up. With the top slotted Georgia on their bye week, No. 2 Cincinnati will visit Navy, and No. 3 Oklahoma will play Kansas. Both games start at 12pm. No. 4 Ranked Alabama will host the Tennessee Volunteers, who are coming off a tough loss against another SEC rival Ole Miss. That game will be at 6pm. Another key game to watch will be the USC at No. 13 Notre Dame game on Saturday night at 6:30, which will be the 92nd time these rivals have met in program history.
