Soles4Souls, the Nashville-based nonprofit that creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world, announces the addition of Joe Njoroge, who will serve as the new Chief Financial Officer. The position was previously held by Robert Adams-Ghee, who passed away in March following a sudden illness.
Joe most recently served as Chief Finance and Administration Officer at Climate Central, Inc., a nonprofit that conducts research and reports on the world’s changing climate. Prior to that he served as Chief Finance Office for American Friends Service Committee, leading global efforts in financial systems deployment, training and compliance as well as leading Union negotiations. Joe brings years of leadership experience and expertise in nonprofit operations, program management, finance and compliance to the global nonprofit.
Soles4Souls President and CEO Buddy Teaster said, “After an intense, nationwide search where hundreds of talented people applied for the CFO role, we believe Joe is the right person at the right time. As we grow to serve more people to achieve our $1billion of economic impact goal, Joe’s global perspective and deep financial expertise will ensure we do that in the most responsible, effective way possible. He’s going to be an amazing addition to the S4S team!”
Joe says it’s a privilege to join the Soles4Souls team with its proven track record of empowering people in need and its commitment to sustainability practices.
“Since my initial interaction with Soles4Souls, I have been both amazed and humbled by the immense impact of the mission and the people that execute it. I have heard first-hand of lives that have been changed through shoe distribution and entrepreneurship, helping people pull themselves out of poverty. I am excited to be a part of this movement, to expand our reach and to positively affect even more lives.”
Joe is an avid soccer (football) fan and has enjoyed watching his two boys, now in college, playing soccer all their lives. He is also an avid motorcycle rider and a licensed private pilot. Joe is engaged in the community and has provided pro bono financial services to several community organizations.
Joe begins his new role during the busy back-to-school season, when Soles4Souls hosts multiple events across the U.S. to provide new athletic shoes to children experiencing homelessness.
