Traffic Division officers and THP troopers will be staffing a sobriety checkpoint on Murfreesboro Pike near the airport on the night of Thursday, March 17, as part of the MNPD’s effort to enhance traffic safety in recognition that St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and parties often involve excessive drinking.

Additionally, the checkpoint will be staffed by extra-duty MNPD officers working through a grant from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.

In 2021, there were 665 alcohol related crashes in Davidson County. More than 45% of fatal crashes last year involved impairment.
