March 5, 2024 – A licensed security guard is facing charges after an altercation at a Nashville bar last month.
Metro Police say Richard Cornelius, 36, of Antioch, has been charged with aggravated assault following the incident that left Austin Turner, 26, of Hendersonville, in extremely critical condition.
Cornelius allegedly denied Turner reentry into the Demonbreun Street bar when an altercation ensued.
Investigation by Midtown Hills Precinct detectives led to the issuance of an arrest warrant accusing Cornelius of striking Turner causing him to fall to the ground unconscious.
Turner remains at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Cornelius was booked but later released on $25,000 bond.
