Robert Grayson, 44, is charged with criminal homicide for Sunday’s 7:15 a.m. fatal shooting of Tabitha Oglesby, 38, inside her Edgefield apartment in the 1200 block of 14th Avenue South.

Officers responded to the residence after Oglesby’s 19-year-old son called 911 to report that his mother was being physically assaulted by her boyfriend. When officers arrived, they found her critically wounded. Grayson was present. Officers retrieved a handgun from Grayson’s coat pocket. Oglesby was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where she died.

During an interview, Grayson stated that he and Oglesby were in a dating relationship and that prior to the shooting, the two had argued. He left the apartment but returned later and the argument reignited, becoming physical. Oglesby’s son attempted to intervene during the fight but ran for help after Grayson allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened to kill them both.

Grayson, who is also charged with aggravated assault, is being held in lieu of $575,000 bond.
