We all know that Nashville is the home to country music, but there is also a large Pop, Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, and Rock following! While Bridgestone Arena, Nissan Stadium, Ascend Amphitheater, and others draw in large nationally and internationally known artists, it is the smaller, yet widely popular amongst locals, venues such as: The Basement, Exit/In and The Cowan that house Nashville’s hottest local artists.

Vera Bloom, known as AnneMarie to her friends and family, is taking Nashville’s local Rock scene by storm and on tour. We had the opportunity to talk to the rockstar about some of her inspirations and her future career!

Q: What’s the story behind your stage name?

A: My stage name started out as a declaration of honesty and truth in where I was at as an artist and a mission statement to stay true to myself moving forward. Vera means truth and Bloom signifies growth. I’m also a big Pink Floyd fan so I’ve always been attracted to the name Vera (from their album The Wall).

Q: What other, if any, avenues do you use to express your creativity?

A: I really enjoy painting when I’m not writing songs or performing. It’s a quiet and introspective way to relax my mind, yet is also a puzzle and challenge bringing them to life.

Q: What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?

A: It depends on the mood of the song and my mood of the day. Sometimes it’s the beat and vibe of the singer that really can amp me up or it’s the lyrics in a song and sweet melody that can move me to the point of tears. When I perform my songs I feel this contrast immensely.

Q: Can you tell us more about your upcoming tour?

A: I am beyond excited to get out on the road a bit. It’s long overdue. I decided to space out this tour into kind of weekend warrior type stents versus back to back shows over a week or two. Ease into it, you know? I’m going as far East to Richmond, Virginia and spots in North Carolina, as well as up to Chicago and a few cities in Ohio. This is just the beginning!

Q: What’s it like being an artist in Music City? Do you feel as if it’s a competitive scene?

A: Honestly, I love Nashville and the scene. As a rock artist, I feel really supported and part of a great and thriving market and I’ve had a chance to meet a lot of other incredible artists and bands as well as people who just straight up love music and supporting local artists. I’m very grateful.

Q: What social media or other platforms are you on so we can enjoy your music and purchase some merchandise?

A: I’m on all the socials! Instagram and Facebook, mostly for now. Streaming everywhere! Merch can be bought on my Bandcamp page and I have a website that shows all my upcoming shows.

Q: What does the future hold for Vera Bloom?

A: I’m excited to find out! I’m loving my newest songs and watching myself grow as an artist, writer, and performer. Meeting new people and getting to know fans that turn into friends is just the best thing ever.
