This year marks the 75th anniversary of Phillips Toy Mart and Phillips wants to say “thank you” to everyone who has helped keep their doors open throughout the years. In celebration of the big occasion, Phillips is giving away $75 gift cards to the store on social media each week in October. In addition, Phillips is celebrating inside the store all month long.
Originally a hardware and variety store that sold a few toys, Phillips Toy Mart, first known as West End Toyland (on 30th and West End next to Smiley’s Restaurant and Candyland), opened its doors in 1946. The store soon moved to Eighth and Wedgewood and was renamed Phillips’s Distributors. Many Nashvillians remember shopping at the original Phillips Toy Mart.
The location we know and love today in Belle Meade, 5207 Harding Pike, was purchased in 1960. At just around 11,000 square feet, this local toy store boasts more than 400 toy brands in stock today.
