William “Bill” Leonard Henry, passed away May 1, 2024, in the Veterans Hospital, Nashville, TN after a tough fight with a serious illness.
He was born in Gary, IN, and after living in Colorado Springs, CO, and Paris, TN, at the age of 12, his family moved to Nashville, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Ray Henry and Frances Duff Henry; brother, Harold Duff Henry; sister, Henrietta Henry Wise.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Bobby L. Wise, Colorado Springs, CO; nephews, Harold Maurice (Wanda) Henry, White House, TN, and Lonnie Leroy Wise, Henderson, NV; nieces, Pat Henry Polk, White House, TN, Caroline Henry (Jeff) Harrod, Murfreesboro, TN, Nickie (Philip) Henry Jones, Murfreesboro, TN, Cynthia Diane (John) Wise Vanwart, Clanton, AL, and Robin Leigh Wise Slater, Grand Junction, CO; step-nephews, Joseph McNamara, Murfreesboro, TN and Robert McNamara, Greenbrier, TN; numerous great nieces and nephews; and his loving sweetheart of 21 plus years, Becky Startup McCullough, and her family.
After graduating from Hillsboro High School, Nashville, TN and attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN for four years, Bill spent four years in the Army on active duty and six years in the Army Reserve on active duty. His major at UT was Geography, and Bill was very knowledgeable about history from all over the world.
The family will always remember his kind heart, his funny jokes, and his love for music.
Visitation with the family will be at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9th, from 11 am until the time of service at 12 noon, with Dr. Dan Startup officiating. Interment will follow at Middle-TN State Veterans Cemetery. https://www.phillipsrobinson.com
