William E. “Bill” Jones, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 12, 2026.
Born on September 6, 1947, Bill lived a life defined by hard work, innovation, and devotion to his family and community. A graduate of Fairview High School, he spent 10 years working for Nashville Electric Service before pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit.
Bill was well known throughout the Fairview community as a builder and businessman. He built the first self-service car wash in Fairview and later designed and crafted custom wood stoves for many years. Continuing his passion for serving others, he went on to build and operate a full-service car wash, quick lube, tire, and alignment shop. His strong work ethic and determination left a lasting mark on the community he loved.
Above all else, Bill cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rita Jones; his three sons and their wives, Gwinn and Kathy Jones, Shane and Billie Jones, and Adrian and Heather Jones; seven grandchildren, Andrea Johnson, Cameron Jones, Houston Jones, Sean Jones, Alex Jones, Bailey Jones, and Kaiser Jones; and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Bill’s laughter, stories, and the warmth he brought to every gathering will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Visitation services will be held on May 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and the funeral service from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
