Vernon Eugene Elliott Obit

Vernon Eugene Elliott – Age 87 of Eagleville TN. Born in Dallas, Texas on August 20, 1937. Vernon passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, December 19, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris and is survived by two daughters, Becky (Ed) Sally and Cindy (Kevin) Lynn; four grandchildren, Eddie (Alice) Sally, Brian (Terra) Sally, Scott (Weatherly) Lynn and Katie (Matthew) Young; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and close friends.

Born in Dallas TX to Eugene and Oral Mae Elliott, Vernon attended Woodrow Wilson High School. In 1956, he joined the US Air Force and was a crew chief on C-47 aircraft. After his service, Vernon returned to Dallas where he married Doris Russell in 1960. They were married for 54 years.

In 1966, the family moved to Nashville TN when Vernon became the service manager for Victor Business Products. Vernon retired from Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) in 2005. Vernon had a gift of bringing a smile to those around him. He loved playing jokes on others. He enjoyed restoring Mustangs, working in the yard, watching old movies and listening to Lawrence Welk music.

Vernon was a history buff-especially about WWII. He loved all animals, especially his dog Tucker. Above all else, Vernon loved his family and friends, and cherished time spent together. He was truly one of a kind- a wonderful man and incredible dad. He will be missed by many and forgotten by no one.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, Nashville TN. Interment with Military Honors will be on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville TN.
