Van Marie Kelley

Van Marie (Sherrod) Kelley, age 75, of Nashville, TN went to be with the Lord early Monday morning October 11th, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Van Maire was born in Nashville on January 7th, 1946. She graduated from Hillsboro High school in 1964, went to MTSU, and married Patrick E. Kelley Sr. in 1968. They had four children.

After providing for her children as a stay-at-home mother, she went to work at Vanderbilt University and working in the Graduate Program Economic Development Program as a Program Secretary. After 22 years she retired in 2013. Van Marie loved life; she had many lifelong friends. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed the family vacations to the beach every year. She loved to cook and teach her children and grandchildren many of her secret receipts. She loved her faithful companion, her dog, “Memphis”. Van Marie was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend. Her smile and love for life will be missed by all of us that were blessed to know and love her.

Van Marie was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert E. Sherrod Sr. and Helen Van Keuren Sherrod. Daughter-Natalie M. Kelley, Husband-Patrick E. Kelley Sr.

Survived by: Brother-Robert E. Sherrod Jr.(Paula), Daughter- Catherine “Katie” Nourse, Son- Patrick “PK” E. Kelley Jr. (Mechelle), Daughter- Brandy A. Jones (Jeff), Son/Grandson- Michael A. Kelley. Also had 10 Grandchildren: John Brucker Nourse Jr., Catherine Abbey Nourse, Patrick Bailey Kelley, Delaney Grace Rose (Daelyn), Emma Riley Kelley, Alexis Van Jones, Kyla Marie Jones, Taylor Elizabeth Jones, Ryan Wynne Jones, Great Grandson Hudson Shane Rose, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 14th, at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37203 from 4 pm to 7 pm with a rosary service to follow.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 15th at 11:00 am St. Henry’s Church,6401 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205. Followed by graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, 1001 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.
