Vallean “Ms. Val” Hare, age 83, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
Preceded in death by her parents, William Allen and Mary Edith McWhirter; son, Larry Wayne Fenters; brothers, Charles Edward McWhirter and William Allen “Bill” McWhirter, Jr.; and sister, Dorothy Curtis.
She is survived by her children, Louis Fenters, Jr., Richard Lee Fenters, and Rachel Darlean Ranellucci; grandchildren, Louis Fenters III “Tudor”, Larry Lee (Becky) Savage II, Lacey Cheree (Carl) Reynolds, and Felicia Valleana (Cary) Ranellucci; great-grandchildren, Lucas Reynolds, Maggie Savage, Zac Savage, Alex Savage, and Mary Adah Justice; and many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Val was PWHP of White Shrine of Jerusalem and was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Amaranth.
She was a local businesswoman for over 35 years.
She was baptized at Holy Name Catholic Church, attended Cathedral of Nashville, and remained a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church since 1990, where she provided education for her grandchildren.
She was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a kind and giving woman who sacrificed and put everyone before herself. Her legacy will remain a constant reminder to those hearts she has touched over the years.
Visitation was held at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Rd., on Saturday, March 18 from 10 am-4 pm.
There will be a service at 4 pm in our chapel, visitation will continue afterward until 6 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, March 20, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1225 Gallatin Rd., at 12 pm. Interment will immediately follow the Mass at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Val’s memory to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
