Thomas Heflin Yarbrough was born in Randolph County, Alabama to J. W. Yarbrough and Cordie Lee Sears Yarbrough, April 18, 1931. He passed away on March 26, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Homer and Bob; 7 sisters, Mabel, Inez, Eunice, Jean, Nell, Ann, Geardline.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Smith Yarbrough; sister-in-law, Virginia Smith of Benton, Kentucky; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Tom thanked God that he was born in America, specifically, Alabama. He was born to godly parents, and referred to Peggy as the rock of their relationship and his true companion.
After graduating from high school, Tom pursued his interest in broadcasting and received his diploma in broadcasting. After a brief time, Tom came back to Nashville and employed with Ford Motor Company in the Glass Plant Division and UAW. Tom was a member of the masonic order of West Nashville Lodge #612. He served as the chaplain for many years. After a brief time, West Nashville Lodge #612 merged with the Phoenix Lodge #131. Tom was a chaplain of the merged lodge. Tom was a member of Yorkrite, where he served 50+ years.
Tom is a charter member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He loved collecting antique radios, clocks, and watches. He loved his family and the family he married into tremendously.
Although Tom and Peggy never had children, they had many precious fur babies, dogs, throughout the years.
Tom’s family is grateful for his compassion, loving support, his mentorship and especially for his example as a Christian. He will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
