Thomas Sidney Garmon was born on September 27, 1951 and passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024.
Preceded in death by his parents George Sidney Garmon and Margery “Margie” Ellen Garmon.
Survived by daughter Sidney Garmon; brothers and sister, Robert “Bobby” (Colleen) Garmon, Mary Catherine “Kathy” Garmon, and William “Bill” (Terry) Garmon; Nieces and nephews, Lindsey (Keith) McGrady, Nicholas “Nick” (Allie) Garmon, Mary (Robert) Bruce, Justin Griffiths, Dustin (Monica) Griffiths and Ashley (Rex) Hindman.
Tommy had a generous spirit and loved sharing joy with others. A native Nashvillian, Tommy and the Garmon family called Woodbine “Flat Rock” home. He attended St. Edward School, Father Ryan High School, and Middle Tennessee State University. Tommy made his living as a tour guide. A remarkable and charismatic storyteller his greatest joy was sharing the history of Nashville with tourists and locals alike.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 1 from 4 pm-7 pm at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 2 at 11 am at St. Patrick Church with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Historic Nashville Inc. and Father Ryan High School.
Bill Van Cleave, Bill Packard, Carolyn McClain, Rich LeBlanc, Bob Gregory, Howard Fridrich, and in spirit Mike Donnelly and Jerry Burns will serve as honorary pallbearers.
