Sybil-Chloe-Wilson

Sybil Chloe Wilson of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, departed this life for eternal glory on Saturday, November 9th, 2024.

Born in Vinemont, Alabama, on January 23rd, 1941 to Harry and Flora Tillery, she was their youngest child and only daughter.

In this life, she leaves behind her husband, Terry; children, Jon (Debbie) Wilson of Gallatin and Bronwyn Wilson (Nigel) of Lebanon. She was a grandmother to Jeremy Wilson (Susannah) of Blacksburg, VA, Annalea Wilson of Lebanon, and Jack Celatka of Spring Hill. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law Carolyn Tillery of Cullman, AL and Jo Tillery of Tulsa, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Mack Tillery and Earl Tillery.

She was raised in a loving, hard-working, determinedly Christian family who always served others yet took time to have fun. These were her guiding principles throughout her life – attributes she passed to her family and shared with all who knew her.

She met Terry while working for the Army at Redstone Arsenal. Later in life, she made a career with Associated Packaging, where she made many lifelong friends.

Sybil lovingly tended to what mattered to her. She volunteered at her children’s and grandchildren’s schools. Much of her children’s clothes were home-sewn, and they recall her sewing machine often humming late into the night. You could eat off the floors of her home, and it teemed with green blooming plants raised by her hand. She happily worked barefoot in the earth in her garden or flower beds. She welcomed her kids’ and grandkids’ friends, cared about them and sneakily participated in their practical jokes. Her own friends know that they could depend on her always.

Her marriage of 63 years was her life’s work, and her sweetheart, Terry, the love of her life. She cared for him as long as she could. Their life together was a vine intertwined with love for family, for God and His people, and service to God and man.

She was a member of the Goodlettsville Church of Christ for over 50 years. She loved fellowship, and praise and song with them. With Terry, she served the people of Mexico on mission trips and was a strong supporter of the church’s mission efforts. She worked tirelessly with her sisters in the sewing ministry as they provided thousands of items for hurt children, shut-ins and those in nursing homes every year. She was truly a “prayer warrior.” Generations of God’s people remember her as a fount of encouragement, kind words, and timely hugs.

She will be terribly missed and always remembered with love. Her family look forward to being reunited with her in a little while.
