Shirley Spell Trinkler peacefully passed away on September 7th, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Colonel Kenneth T. Trinkler (1989), Son, George Owen Trinkler (2003), and Brother, Thomas Clinton Spell (2010).

A trail-blazing businesswoman, mother, and community volunteer, Shirley’s loving and hard-driving spirit raised the bar for everyone she surrounded. Shirley was active with the Red Cross during the Vietnam War, advocating and supporting the placement of refugees in safe locations. Shirley had the privilege of living throughout the world, raising her son and daughter in Europe and Southeast Asia, before establishing her home in Nashville, Tennessee, where she made significant contributions to the arts community.

She is survived by Daughter, Tina Mercer (husband Mike), Grandchildren, Thomas Cai McIntyre, Erik Miller (wife Donna), Owen Trinkler (Jennifer), Great-grandchildren, Brandt Trinkler, Lucas Trinkler, Charlotte McIntyre, Della Miller, Sister, Mary Cook, Brother, Bill Spell (wife Elneta), Daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Trinkler, Nieces, Elizabeth Spell, Emily Spell, Suzanne Spell, Great-nieces, Kate Foltz and Rachel McDaniel; Great-nephews, Jackson and Clayton Mills, J.P. and Jordan McDaniel.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Shirley will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 from three until four o’clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home followed by A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at four o’clock in the afternoon in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn Roesch- Patton Funeral Home.
