Claudia Lipscomb Douglass, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, social worker, and community leader, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at Blakeford in Nashville, TN. She was 87 years old.

Born on November 20, 1938, at New York Hospital in New York City, Claudia was the beloved daughter of Caroline Knowlton Lipscomb and Charles Lipscomb. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wade Anderson Douglass; her parents, her twin brother, Charles Lipscomb, and her sister, Caroline Wynn.

Claudia graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in English before earning her Master of Social Work from the University of Tennessee. She dedicated her professional life to serving others through social work and advocacy. Her career included service in Colorado’s welfare system, YMCA of Nashville, Best Buddies of Tennessee, The ARC Davidson County and Greater Nashville, and hospice care where she provided comfort and compassion to countless individuals and families.

A woman of deep faith and unwavering commitment to her community, Claudia served as an Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a past president of the Sumner County United Way and was honored with the Bishop’s Cross from the Diocese of Tennessee in recognition of her exceptional service to others. Throughout her life, she was known for her generosity, wisdom, quiet strength, and steadfast dedication to helping those in need.

Above all, Claudia cherished her family. She is survived by her sons, Cullen Douglass (Kristen) and Anderson Douglass of Murci-Homes; and her cherished grandchildren, Camryn Douglass, Harrison Douglass, and Currey Douglass. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow.

Claudia’s legacy is one of compassion, service, faith, and love. She touched the lives of countless people through her work, her church, and community, leaving the world better than she found it. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Service of Witness to the Resurrection at 1:00 p.m. Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Ave, Nashville, TN 37205.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
