Shelby Jean Coleman Obit

Our hearts are full as we remember Shelby Jean Coleman, a woman who embodied love, kindness, and generosity in everything she did. Born in Pleasant Shade, TN on a beautiful autumn day, Shelby grew up with her dear sister, Mary Alice Thompson, cherishing the strong family bonds that shaped her life.

Shelby married the love of her life, Donald Coleman, and together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of her amazing cooking and baking. She was the embodiment of a true mother – not just to her children, Kellye McPeak, Dawn Jordan, Donnie Coleman Jr. (Donna), Brice “Teddy” Coleman (Tesa) – but to anyone who needed her nurturing spirit and compassionate heart.

We remember the joy on her face during family gatherings, where her love for reading Christian Amish novels and cooking brought us all together. Her kitchen was the heart of our family, a place where stories were shared, and traditions were born. Shelby’s recipes will continue to be a treasured legacy especially her chocolate gravy.

Her 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren were the light of her life, she showered each of them with unconditional love, wisdom, and the joy of simple pleasures.

Shelby taught us the true meaning of being loving, giving, and kind. Her compassion and kindness were not just traits but gifts she shared freely. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire us all.

On May 27th, Shelby passed peacefully away in Louisville, reuniting with her beloved Donald and dear parents, Edgar and Nella Marie Binion. While we will miss her deeply, we find comfort in the countless memories and the love she instilled in each of us.

We love you Mom, we love you Nanny, and we will carry your spirit in our hearts always and the love you showed us.
