Sharon Sauser Kane, 86, was born in Milwaukee, WI to Elmer and Dorothy Sauser, and entered into rest on August 9, 2026, in Nashville, TN. Sharon spent her life studying playing the oboe, English horn and oboe d’amore. She graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee before entering the Eastman School of Music on scholarship to graduate with a B.A. in music. From there she attended Florida State University Music School for a Masters degree in oboe performance.
Sharon soon found a position with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra until 1983 after which she was a regular member of several regional orchestras in Tennessee and Kentucky. She was a co-founder of a chamber ensemble in Nashville, Ensemble Cornucopia, a group that included other art forms during their concerts such as art exhibits, a mime interpreting a premier performance of a piece by a local composer, and a raconteur bringing the music of Stravinsky to life. Ensemble Cornucopia eventually morphed into the Green Hills Wind Symphony, performing regularly in many different venues and is still an ongoing organization. Her career also included teaching oboe as well as piano.
Aside from her music, Sharon was a cat person, keeping a furry companion for most of her life. She enjoyed being outside keeping her lawn tidy and manicured. One could always find her working on election days helping people to cast their votes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution to a favorite charity in her honor are encouraged. Her friends would like to thank the caregivers at St. Thomas Hospital and Richland Place Health Care Center for their efforts and care.
Sharon will be interred at the Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI on August 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
