Ruth Charlene Sisco, affectionally known as “Nana”, of Madison, Tennessee, left this earth to meet Jesus on December 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 13, 1941, in Willow Grove, Tennessee, to the late Clarvess Reeder and Nellie Kyle Reeder.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Sisco; daughter, Connie Smith; son-in-law, Brent Smith; siblings, Fred Reeder, Marshall Reeder, Shirlie Reeder, Mayford Reeder; and granddaughter-in-law, Heather England Smith.
Charlene is survived by her daughter, Cindie (David) Fish; grandchildren, Amanda (Joe) Chapman, Brent Smith, and Lauren Fish; great-grandchildren, Ford Chapman and Charlie Smith; siblings, Betty Bowman, John Reeder, and Bill Reeder; and many nieces and nephews.
Charlene was a devoted member of Madison Church of Christ for over 50 years. She worked as an operator and manager for South Central Bell and later Bellsouth before retiring with 32 years of service. After her retirement, Charlene went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from David Lipscomb University. Charlene loved to stay busy, so she then went on to work as an operator at Saint Thomas Midtown for 15 years. Over the years, she provided love and care to many. She was a caretaker to her mother and to Jim, but also raised Brent and Amanda after the loss of their parents. Charlene was knowledgeable scripture and historical information regarding the Bible. As Charlie would say, “She knew it like the back of her hand.” She was always up to speed on current events and politics; if you needed to know what was going on in the world, she was the person to ask. More than anything, Charlene loved her family and friends. She will be missed by so many.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Alive Hospice for their care and compassion during Charlene’s illness.
