Robert was born on November 13, 1948, in Scotts Hill, TN, to Monroe Benford and Mary Ann Thompson.
Robert proudly served his country in both the Air Force and the Army, demonstrating his dedication and patriotism. After his military service, he worked professionally as a school bus driver for the Metro Nashville Department of Education, where he was known for his reliability, kindness, and commitment to the safety and well-being of the students he transported.
He is survived by his three children, Patty (Richard) Chappell, Robert Thompson, and Richard Thompson, who will forever cherish his memory.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Robert Lonnie Thompson will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
