Ridgley “Rich” Harbison passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 76 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 1, 1949, in Clinton, IA and was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished family member, and loyal friend.
Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lynn Harbison; sons, Bret (Marian) Harbison, Corey Harbison; daughter, Christie (Tyler) Mercer; grandchildren, Caden Mercer, Landen Mercer, Fowler Harbison, Eloise Jane Harbison, and Roadster Harbison; brothers, Tim Harbison and Tom Harbison. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Helen Harbison.
A former middle school teacher and skilled stone mason, Rich touched countless lives through his kindness, wisdom, hard work, and dedication. He loved spending time with his family, adored his beloved dog Charlie, and embraced life with an adventurous spirit.
Whether snorkeling at the beach, hunting outdoors, or listening to his favorite bands, The Allman Brothers Band and Pink Floyd, Rich found joy in the things he loved most.
Rich will be remembered for his warm heart, gentle nature, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for family and friends. His legacy of kindness and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Funeral services will be conducted by Bob Cook on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. (visitation Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.) at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. Interment Nolensville Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
