With gentle compassion and a generous spirit, Richard L Hurt never met a stranger. Born on December 28th, 1948, in Nashville, TN, Richard spent his life spreading kindness and warmth to everyone he encountered.
From an early age, Richard’s love for sports was a cornerstone of his life. He played baseball throughout his childhood and high school years and was drafted to play with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He unfortunately was not able to proceed due to an injury. His passion extended to watching NASCAR and playing softball in the State League, where his team won competitions and titles.
Richard’s kindness touched the hearts of many, especially his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Joanne Hurt, and his sister, Patricia Hurt. His kindness also embraced his sister-in-law, Carla (Greg) Gatian and brother-in-law, Anthony (Marcie) Altieri. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces, Kayla (Brandon) Williams, Aliana (Jesse) Klesser, Angela Gatian, and Gabrielle Gatian; great nieces, Charlotte Klesser and Madison Williams.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, Adam and Margaret Hurt, his brother, James Hurt, and his cherished dog, Jenny. His faithful dog, Leo, remains a testament to his gentle care for all living beings.
Richard’s kind gestures and generous heart left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His gentle compassion will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
