Raymond Edward Trainor, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home on April 15, 2026. He was born on January 9, 1949, in Cleveland, Mississippi. Raymond was a quiet man with a sharp wit and a gift for storytelling that drew people in and left lasting impressions. He spent much of his life working the land he loved, farming cotton, soybeans, corn, and raising cattle in Mississippi. Through years of dedication and hard work, he built not only a livelihood but a legacy rooted in perseverance and care for the land.
In addition to farming, Raymond was man behind the Yazoo Workshop in Yazoo City, Mississippi. His skill and passion for craftsmanship earned him a reputation that extended well beyond his local community. Known throughout Nashville and beyond as a master craftsman, his work reflected both precision and pride, and his creations will continue to stand as a testament to his talent.
We are all given gifts by the Lord but Raymond’s was a rare and steady gift for mending what others could not, and it was often said that if he couldn’t fix it, then it simply wasn’t meant to be fixed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ila Mae Trainor; his brothers, Frank Trainor and Jimmy Trainor; and his sisters, Maxine Sawyer, Dot Meeks, and Pauline Jester. Raymond is survived by his wife Regina, his sister, Gerry McGraw; his daughter, Andrea Mathis (Jay); and his son, Ray Trainor. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Chandler Mathis, Sara Taylor Guarino (Luke), Tyler Trainor, and Emily Trainor; and one great-grandchild, Sophia Guarino. He will be deeply missed by his in-laws, as well as his nieces and nephews. Raymond will be remembered for his steady presence, his humor, his stories, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the land he tended, and the work of his hands.
Funeral services will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home (9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221). Visitation will take place from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service in the Pavilion from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass and Christian Burial will be announced at a later date.
