Peggy was born on July 29, 1959, to Howard (Deceased) and Jeanie Dye Hayes. She grew up in Arlington, Tn where she professed her belief in Christ and was baptized at the age of 6 at Belmont Baptist Church. She attended Bolton High School and went on to attend The Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tn. There she would make lifelong friendships and met the love of her life. Peggy married William C Thompson on June,18 1985 and to that union two sons were born; Marcus Eugene Thompson (Deceased) and Percy Duane Thompson. Her family filled her heart with joy and became her focus in life. Peggy retired from BellSouth.
Peggy is survived by her husband William C. Thompson, Mother Jeanie D. Hayes, son Percy D Thompson (Leslie), daughter Tracy Houston, Arnethea Beasley (Reginald), sisters Judie G. Hayes, Candias L Hayes-Mercier (Devin), Daisy Craig (Leon), brothers Norman V. Hayes (Lenny), Al Hayes,aunts Martha Franklin(Marshall), Willie L Cartwright.
Grandchildren: Taunteayana Thompson, Makayla Thompson, Aniyah Thompson, Ethan PJ Thompson, Eden Thompson, Isabella Thompson, Cierra Flynn, Jasmine James-Holt, Kristian McIntosh James (Pierre), Kerry James Jr (Terri)
Nieces and Nephews, she loved dearly: Ian L Howard Hayes, Donte Hayes, Devon Hayes, Dominic A. Mercier, Alice Hayes ,Tanika Rodgers (Mario), Keon Craig, Shenika Thompson, and Keith Cossie
Peggy was preceded in death by her father Howard Hayes Jr, her eldest son Marcus D. Thompson, her brother Howard Hayes III, sister-in-law Janice Cossie, and Nephew Johnny Cossie Jr. Visitation Friday, July 8, 2022, 12-1pm with funeral to follow at Grace United Church 4033 Dickerson Pike. Burial Monday, July 11, 2022, 1:00pm at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
