Pauline "Polly" Woodroof Obit

Pauline “Polly” Woodroof passed away on December 24, 2024, after more than 100 years of life.

She is survived by one brother, Ewing Whitaker; and her four sons, Jerry (Carol) Carr, Wendell (Wanda) Woodroof, William (Stacey) Woodroof, and Ronald (Pat) Woodroof. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Edwin Carr and Sam Woodroof, the latter to whom she was happily married for 62 years. She is also preceded in death by her parents, three of her brothers, and one granddaughter, Angie Gaines.

Polly was born in North Springs, Tennessee, to Sam and Lokie Whitaker in 1924. She lived in Tennessee for her entire life. Polly proudly worked at Bill Clay Sporting Goods for 17 years and as a part-time seamstress from her home. She loved having family and friends visit her at her inviting Nashville residence, where she always had a beautiful garden on display.

Polly was a longtime member at both Wingate Church of Christ and Antioch Church of Christ. She was a member at Radnor Church of Christ at the time of her passing. Polly was strong in her Christian faith and rarely missed a church service.

Polly was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family and friends dearly and always took great care of them. In fact, she was celebrated for her 100th birthday by family and friends in June 2024.

Polly will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Her family is at peace knowing she has received her Heavenly reward and has been reunited with many loved ones.

Pallbearers will consist of her grandsons, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 6, 2024, at Woodbine Funeral Home’s Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2024, at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on 7931 McCrory Lane at 1:00 p.m. Radnor Church of Christ minister, Jeff Bell, will preside.
