Patty Patterson Martin, 86, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born on February 10, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, Patty spent many years of her life living all over the world, before eventually settling in Nashville where she built a home full of warmth, laughter, and love. She was the beloved daughter of William Marvin and Sarah Genevieve Patterson, and the cherished sister of Dottie, Marvin Ray, Calvin, Johnny, Shirley, and Mickey.

She is preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, and the love of her life, Paul H. Martin, with whom she shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage.

Patty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, whose life was marked by both adventure and deep-rooted faith. As a proud Air Force wife, she traveled the world, making homes and memories in every place she landed. She found her calling as a high school English teacher, where she brought literature to life and inspired generations of students with her wit, intelligence, and kindness.

One of Patty’s greatest joys was teaching ladies’ Bible classes at West End Church of Christ, where she shared her deep knowledge of Scripture and love for the Lord with grace, warmth, and wisdom. She taught for numerous years, becoming a mentor, encourager, and dear friend to many.

Known for her sass, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering love, Patty was the heart of her family. Whether sharing a story, a laugh, or a piece of hard-earned wisdom, she made everyone feel like they belonged.

She is survived by her loving daughter Kimberley and son-in-law Joe Simpson; her sister Shirley and brother Mickey; her grandchildren Joerdan (Jaclyn), Caleb (Taylor Ann), Luke, and Gracie; and her great-grandchildren Ivory, McClain, Max, Palmer, and Anderson. Her legacy of love, strength, faith, and humor lives on through them.

A celebration of Patty’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1:45 p.m. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, where family and close friends will gather to honor the extraordinary woman she was. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/nashville-tn
