Ophelia Elaine Simmons, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by love and family. Born on March 13, 1954, to the late Robert and Gertrude Walker, Ophelia lived a life filled with faith, compassion, and unwavering strength.

On August 14, 1982, she married the love of her life, Jeffery L. Simmons. Together they shared 43 beautiful years of marriage — a partnership built on love, laughter, and devotion. Jeffery was not only her husband but her lifelong co-pilot through all of life’s trials and triumphs.

Ophelia is survived by her husband Jeffery, their eight children (beloved Angel deceased daughter), twenty-one grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and her three siblings, all of whom were blessed to know her steadfast love and generous spirit.

She was a proud Captain who served her country for 18 years in the army. She was an enthusiastic member of life itself — a woman who met every challenge head-on and inspired others to do the same. There was never a problem she was afraid to tackle or a person she wouldn’t help. Whether offering a warm meal, wise advice, or simply her time, Ophelia gave selflessly and with joy. She was a natural problem solver who could always find a way, driven by her deep compassion for others and her belief that no one should go without.

Ophelia’s light, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know her. Her legacy of love and resilience will forever guide her family.
