Olivia Harrell Barnes, 96, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
She was born in Trenton, Kentucky on July 22, 1928, to the late Hickman L. and Louise Foster Harrell.
Olivia attended St. Thomas School of Nursing and dedicated nearly her entire life to her calling at the time of her retirement at 80 years old. She enjoyed crafting including coloring, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Olivia liked spending time outdoors camping and fishing along the lakes and rivers of Middle Tennessee and Kentucky. She frequently visited the State Parks in Kentucky where all of her siblings lived.
In addition to her parents, Olivia was preceded in death by her husband, James Robertson Barnes, Jr.; son, Martin Wayman Barnes; brothers, Sandy Harrell, and Mack Harrell; sisters, Mattie Lou Baldwin, Mary Elizabeth Alder, Ellen McKinny, and Dorothy Teague.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Lydia Reed, Anne Meador, James D Barnes, and Edward Barnes, Sr.; grandchildren, Eric Reed, Edward Barnes, Jr., Daniel Barnes, Bobby Barnes, Graeme Reed, Logan Reed, and Katy Dowlen; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. A Celebration of Olivia’s Life will begin at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at West Harpeth. Following the service, Olivia will be laid to rest in the Spring Hill Cemetery located at 5110 Gallatin Pike South, in Madison. https://www.westharpethfh.com
