Nettie Lou Fields, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born on September 26, 1943, in Indianapolis, IN. She was 81 years old.
Nettie Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Willie Goad; and her siblings, Dorathy, Erma Jean, Billie Joyce, Glenda Fay, Carolyn Marie, Ernest, Louis, Wade, Raymond, Michael, and Douglas.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Aubrey Lee Fields; their children, Audrey, Ricky, Michael, Herbert, and Ruby; her grandchildren, Rachel, Randall, Amber, Tiffany, Travis, Jake, Lauren, Blake, Haley, Hope, and Honor; several great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Nettie Lou’s life was fiercely dedicated to her family. She raised five children with a loving smile and a strong spirit. Despite her small stature, she had a fierce and feisty personality that commanded immense respect. She was known to be the luckiest lady in the room, whether it be a game of bingo, a raffle, or a cake walk, Nettie Lou was going to walk away with the prize.
A generous and hospitable woman, whether she was preparing countless family meals or sneaking her grandchildren one too many sweet treats, she always ensured that her family was well-fed and well-loved. No visit to “Granny and Papa’s” was complete without a hug and a kiss. She adored her grandchildren and cherished the routine family gatherings that brought everyone together.
Nettie Lou will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. Interment Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 615-331-1952. https://www.woodbinefuneralhome.com
