Mona Susan Hayes was born on July 17, 1945, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Mr. Oscar and Mary Elizabeth McHaney. Her family later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where she graduated from Cameron High School. She completed the nursing program at Vanderbilt University. She also completed the Life Underwriting Business Insurance course at the Life Underwriter Training Council and finished the Minority Business Executive Program through the Amos Tuck School of Business.
Mona worked at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, where she met the love of her life, Emmitt Eugene Hayes. They married in September 1968. Together, they were blessed with three children: Lisa, Willie, and Tracy. She and her husband joined First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill (FBCCH) in 1980.
Memorial Service, Saturday, April 11th, 12:00 pm with visitation 11:00 to 12:00 prior, First Baptist Church, Capital Hill, 625 Rosa L. Parks Blvd, Nashville, Tennessee 37203.
