Michael Gregory Stabin, 67, of Fort Lauderdale Florida passed away on June 11, 2025. Michael was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1957, and went on to become a father, health physicist, educator, and dear friend to many. He was an only child, and was raised by his parents in Florida, Norman and Shirley Stabin.

Michael was known by those close to him as a caring and entertaining friend, and a brilliant mind for science. He was a lover of music, travel, food (particularly Mexican or Brazilian), films, his work, and his family. He was deeply passionate about the subjects he loved which ranged from organizing his favorite films in sequence, to the incredible work he did in radiation dosimetry.

Michael was a foundational physicist in the field of radiation dosimetry. He would go on to write two textbooks on the subject and created the transformational OLINDA software that is still in use today. He was passionate about the science he worked on but was truly driven by the impact it has on patient lives. Michael worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, taught at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in Recife Brazil, and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Michael is remembered by his four children, his colleagues, his friends, and students as a caring influence who loved his field, and loved bringing others into it.

Michael is survived by his four children, Laura, Daniel, Mark, and Julia Stabin.
