Mary Ruth “Polly” Lowery, 72, of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Thursday, July 15, 1954 in Crossville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Sammy Frank Tollett and the late Stella Ethel Threet Tollett.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years: Gary “Penny” Lowery; brothers: Eugene Tollett, Randall Tollett, Elmer Tollett, and Bobby Tollett of Crossville, TN.
She is survived by her sister: Phyllis Barnwell of Nashville, TN; children: James Holt of Sparta, TN, Jeannie (Tony) Strode of Sparta, TN, Greg (Melanie) Lowery of Signal Mt. TN, Celeste Sessions of Signal Mt., TN, Jason (Samantha) Strode of Sparta, TN, and Amy Kincer of Sparta, TN; grandchildren: Shelby (Aaron) Day of Monterey, TN, Toni Strode, Hailee Strode, and Addison Strode of Sparta, TN, Madison (Jared) Lowery, Justin Sessions, Jeffery Sessions, and Tabitha Sessions of Signal Mt., TN; great grandchildren: Paisley and Briggs Day; and several loving nieces and nephews.
She was a mother figure to 250 kids and 500 grandkids.
